Having a tattoo removed is similar to getting a tattoo – it’s a big decision. However, tattoo removal requires more time, research, and commitment since it’s an ongoing process. We’ve compiled this list of frequently asked questions to help answer any questions you may have about the procedure. At Erasable Inc., your comfort and satisfaction are our top priority.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions needed is specific to each person and each tattoo. A variety of factors are taken into consideration including: the age of the tattoo, the color of the ink, the density of the ink, the location of the tattoo, your body’s immune system, and many other factors. Ultimately, the best way to determine the number of treatments is to come in for a free consultation where your tattoo can be professionally evaluated. Most tattoos need between 5 to 10 treatments for complete removal. At Erasable Inc., we use the Kirby Desai scale to determine the number of treatments you will need.

How long will it take to completely erase my tattoo?

As we mentioned before, laser tattoo removal requires both time and commitment. Complete removal will not be seen after just one treatment, but multiple treatments. Fortunately, treatment sessions are generally short and typically can be measured in seconds or minutes, depending on the size and colors of the tattoo being treated. At least 6 to 8 weeks are needed between each treatment in order to give your body time to heal before receiving another treatment. Patients will see their tattoos fade at different rates depending on the different elements of their tattoo and how fast their body heals. Some patients may see complete removal after just a few months while others may see complete removal after a year. Our Duality laser is specifically designed to eliminate ink faster and with better results so that you need the fewest number of treatments possible.

Does the treatment hurt?

If you can handle getting a tattoo, you can handle the removal. Laser tattoo removal has been described as painful, however many patients say it is extremely tolerable while others say it’s not painful at all! Generally speaking, our patients compare the treatment sensation to that of a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Luckily, treatment sessions are brief and go by very quickly. To ensure patient comfort, our experts offer a variety of numbing solutions to make the procedure as smooth as possible.

What are the costs for treatment?

Laser tattoo removal is surprisingly more affordable than you might imagine, thanks to advances in laser technology that allow for fewer treatments to remove your unwanted ink. Single sessions start at $95 and we offer a variety of packages that can be as much as 25% off regular prices! Are there side effects to laser tattoo removal?

The most common side effects patients experience are redness, scabbing, blistering, and temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. Do not be alarmed if you experience any of these side effects. They are healthy signs and natural indications that your body is healing. The side effects that patients are most frightened of are scabbing and blistering. We strongly advise you not to touch, pick, or pop any of these, as it increases the chance of any permanent effects. As long as you follow proper aftercare instructions and remember that side effects are normal responses to the procedure, your skin will heal beautifully.

Can you prepare my tattoo for a cover-up?

Many people love tattoos but just want to change the design of “cover up” one of them. To make it easier for a tattoo artist to create a cover up tattoo, many patients lighten their existing ink with laser tattoo removal. Our powerful Duality laser can prepare your skin for a cover up in as few as one to three sessions.
