What is Kybella? Is it for me?

What is Kybella?

Kybella is a non-surgical injectable containing a naturally occurring molecule which

eats away at fat. When injected properly, all other cells are left healthy and intact.

What are it’s uses?

Kybella currently is the only FDA approved injectable treatment to improve the

appearance of sub-mental fat or double chins. Kybella is injected under the skin directly into the area beneath your chin. A healthcare provider will give you this injection.

Kybella must be given in a series of up to 6 treatment sessions in order to be effective. You may receive up to 50 injections at each session.

You may be treated with a topical numbing medicine or an ice pack to ease pain and make you comfortable during the injections.

Can it be used for anything else?

Using Kybella for treatment on areas other than the double chin is not approved or

recommended.

How much will I use and how much does it cost?

The usual person will use 1 syringe which usually costs between 6-$700 leaving a

full treatment to cost on average $1,300.

What’s my recovery time?

With Kybella there is virtually no recovery time, only some soreness or irritation that may occur the first 48-72 hours.

Additional info

The treatment is not inexpensive currently and this is due the cost charged by the

company for the product. But, the fact that it can be done without surgery is a big

advantage. In the future, the costs may come down and that can they be passed

along to the patients.
